Docs Using easl
Mentions
Point your agent at a line of code, a page element, a note paragraph or a drawing, and it arrives with your next prompt.
All docs pages
Instead of describing where something is, click it. A mention is a reference to something on the board that rides along with your next prompt, pinned to what it said at that moment.
Hyper-click
Hyper is all four modifiers: ⌃⌥⇧⌘ (Control+Option+Shift+Command; on a PC keyboard, Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Win). The suggested setup is a key remapper such as Karabiner that makes Caps Lock act as Hyper.
Hyper-click anything to stage it as a mention; Hyper-click it again to unstage it.
| Hyper-click on | Mentions |
|---|---|
| A code line or gutter sign | That line, or that whole change |
| A changes tile’s line or hunk header | The line with its side and state, or the whole hunk |
| A note | The block under the pointer (paragraph, list item, table row, fence, or a heading with its section) |
| A web page | The DOM element, with its text and CSS path |
A page’s <canvas>, <video> or <img> |
The element and the pixel you clicked |
| A finished command’s output in a terminal | That command’s whole block: the command, its exit code and its output |
| A drawing | The drawing, with what it encloses, overlaps and connects (a box over a page also lists the elements under it) |
| An image tile | The pixel under the pointer |
| A tile’s title bar | The whole tile |
Hold Hyper to outline what would be mentioned under the pointer. Hyper-drag on empty canvas mentions everything inside the box as one group.
Hyper-click never moves the keyboard, so you can keep typing in your agent’s terminal while you point.
⇧⌘M: mention from the keyboard
Edit › Mention (⇧⌘M) stages whatever the keyboard is on, as a Hyper-click on it would: the hunk or lines you’re on in a changes tile (m there too), a code tile’s selected text or range, the block you’re editing in a note, a page’s text selection, a terminal’s selection or its last command. With the canvas holding the keyboard, it mentions the selected tiles.
The tray
Staged mentions show as chips in the tray, the bar at the bottom of the window. When it’s empty, it reads: “Hyper-click (⌃⌥⇧⌘-click) anything, or ⇧⌘M, to point your agent at it”.
On the right, → name ▾ is the terminal the mentions go to: the agent you last typed in, else the board’s only agent (a dev-server shell beside it never takes it), else the last terminal you typed in. Click it to pick another terminal from a menu, agents first. easl remembers the choice across restarts.
A chip marked edited means what it holds changed after you staged it. The ✕ on a chip removes it.
The drain
Submit your next prompt in the target terminal and the agent’s integration attaches every staged mention to it, then removes the chips it delivered (one you stage while it’s sending stays in the tray). The agent receives them as hidden context, in order, so “this”, “these” and “that box” in your prompt mean what you pointed at. A prompt in any other terminal leaves the tray alone.
This works for omp, Claude Code, Codex, opencode and Gemini CLI before 0.60 (see Agents).
Hyper-V: other agents
For an agent without an integration (aider, Gemini CLI 0.60+, anything else), press Hyper-V (⌃⌥⇧⌘V, Edit › Paste Mentions into Terminal). It pastes the staged mentions as a text block into the terminal you’re typing in (else the tray’s target), without pressing Return, and clears those chips. Then finish your prompt and send it yourself.
